MARITAL AND FAMILY THERAPY
Frequently patients refer due to relationship issues. Marital therapy can resolve problems that threaten to end a relationship. Typically it is one partner more than the other who is motivated to seek help. The objective in this instance may be to assist the motivated partner to gain clarity of their needs in the relationship. However the other party must be willing to participate and engage in the process in order for progress to be made.
Family Therapy can also be a powerful intervention for positive change. Once again, participation by all members is optimal, when practical and when indicated. The institute clinicians all view the family as a system, not as just a group of individuals. They recognize that change in any one individual affects the whole family and therefore involvement by the entire family is encouraged.
